About Us

Our goal at Featherstone Music is to ensure you get exceptional music education while still having fun at the same time. We offer a variety of lessons in piano, voice and guitar, all from highly educated, passionate and enthusiastic musicians. We personally select the best teacher for each student's individual learning style.
 
Ages range from 5 to adult, you're never too old to learn! Pre-grade books used are Piano Adventures, Alfred's and Bastian with accompanying theory books full of fun games such as music mazes and coloring, creative discovery, as well as sight reading and ear training exercises.

Royal Conservatory of Music exam preparation is available for grades 1 through 8 practical and theory rudiments. We have had great results with our students RCM exams and encourage a comfortable progression at each student's own pace.

Rebecca Featherstone
Owner/Piano Teacher

Rebecca Featherstone, the owner of Featherstone Music, has been studying piano since the age of four in the small town of Port Dover, Ontario.  As a teen she participated in the Nofolk Musical Arts Festivals yearly winning many awards of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as a scholarship.  Rebecca graduated with Honors and First Class Honors with the Royal Conservatory of music exams grades 1 through 9 throughout her high school musical career. She then furthered her education, graduating from Mohawk College with an Applied Arts Diploma in Classical Piano Performance (2000) and a B.A. as a music major at McMaster University in Hamilton (2002). 
 
Rebecca taught piano in Toronto from 2002 - 2013, building a strong reputation and fully booked teaching schedule of students ranging in age from four years to an adult.  Many have been students of hers for the entire length of her career in Toronto and have participated in musical events at their schools, gone on to special schools for the arts, and won numerous awards including the Student Life Award which two of her students were awarded! She is very proud of her students and all that they have accomplished and couldn't ask for a better job. 
 
Due to an increasingly high demand for in-home piano lessons and great referrals from her students, Rebecca then furthered her passion for teaching in 2008 by registering her business and hiring other teachers that are just as passionate about teaching piano as she is! Featherstone Music now consists of 14 amazing teachers and growing!

In the Summer of 2013, Rebecca moved to the the small town of Dundas where she now resides with her partner Andrew, two dogs and their son Clarkson.  She has taken on new students in the area and Featherstone Music will continue to grow! Having a lot of opportunities for musical growth with her own son is a plus too! Clarkson has been in Kindermuzik since he was five weeks old and loves to explore sounds on his piano at home! 
  
Rebecca specializes in the Royal Conservatory of Music method (grades 1 - 8 and rudiments)  and the Piano Adventures, Bastian and Alfred methods for pre-grade, however she also gears the lessons to each student's individual needs and loves to teach pop songs too! Her lessons are fun and exciting and always keep the kids wanting to learn more – and it helps that she has lots of stickers and prizes! Adults and seniors are highly encouraged to register for lessons too. You're never to old to learn!
